Deli Geese Project – Block #9 – Tom Sawyer

Here is block number #9 of the Deli Geese Block Project!

Tom Sawyer

9 Tom Sawyer

A few years ago I had the opportunity to teach for the Hickory Stick Quilt Shop in Hannibal, Missouri. Before I left for that trip I listened to, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. It was fun to learn about the area and feel a connection with it before arriving. While there, I was treated to a private after hours tour of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum. This job does have it’s perks!

Block #9 Tom Sawyer uses the Bottom Units from Dark Flying Geese units.  Details of making the units are found here.

Tom Sawyer uses:

A – four Bottom Units from Dark Flying Geese units.

B – four 2 1/2″  x 4 1/2″ rectangles

C – four 2 1/2″ x  4 1/2″ rectangles background (light)

D – four 2 1/2″ squares background, added to B with the connecting corner method that can be seen here.

E – four 2 1/2″ squares, added to C with the connecting corner method that can be seen here.

F – four 2 1/4″ squares

This block will measure 12″ at this point and finish 11 1/2″

This block as well as many others in the Deli Geese Block Project uses 5″ squares.  It’s a great block for charm packs, layer cakes, and of course stash fabrics.

Deli Geese, because they’re sliced !

Enjoy!

  1. Hi, Pat, I didn’t see a way to contact you privately. You didn’t have a button for the Deli Geese, and I needed one for my Block of the Month blog where I list projects. I made one using your first block. I hope that is okay. You can see it In the sidebar here on the new blog and here on the old blog in the sidebar and a post. If you would prefer I not use it, I will, of course, take it down. If that’s the case, would you make one, please? =)
