Deli Geese Project – Block #5 – Lewis

Here is block number #5 of the Deli Geese Block Project!

5 Lewis

This block is “Lewis,” named for Captain Meriwether Lewis, one of the leaders of the historic Lewis and Clark Expedition.  While looking up famous twosomes to name these blocks after, I’m having fun brushing up on some history that I knew back in grade school but have forgotten many of the details of over the years.

Block #5 Lewis uses the Bottom Units from Dark Flying Geese Units.  Details of making the units are found here.

Lewis uses:

A – four Bottom Units from Dark Flying Geese units

B – one 4 1/2″ square

C – four 2 1/2″ squares background (light)

D – four 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles background

E – eight 2 1/2″ squares, added to D with the connecting corner method that can be seen here to form smaller flying geese units.

F – four 2 1/4″ squares

This block will measure 12″ at this point and finish 11 1/2″

This block as well as many others in the Deli Geese Block Project uses 5″ squares.  It’s a great block for charm packs, layer cakes, and of course stash fabrics.

Deli Geese, because they’re sliced !

      • Dorothy, My blog has it’s own search engine so from any of my blog postings simply look for the “search” in the upper right hand side of the page (in the black bar) and type in what you are looking for. In this case by typing in “block 4” or “deli geese” it will find the blogs that have those search terms in the name. Enjoy! Pat
